November 11, 2017, was proclaimed as Veterans Day. President Donald J. Trump made the proclamationon November 7, 2017.
The President of the United States of America stressed the importance of celebrating Veterans Day as one nation. This is to honor all the brave American men and women who have served and defended our great flag.
On this day, the president calls upon everyone to pay our respects to all the veterans who have served the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. They have protected the freedom that we enjoy.
In his proclamation, Pres. Trump has reiterated his pledge to provide the best resources, equipment, and support for our service members. He also emphasized that such support must continue even after they have returned to their civilian lives as veterans.
Veterans’ Health Care is Top Priority
Pres. Trump has signed a legislation which aims to enhance the accountability at the Department of Veterans Affairs. The same bill also provides increased funding for the Veterans Choice Program.
The Veterans Choice Program is a health care program designed to ensure that veterans continue to receive quality care from healthcare providers they trust.
On November 11, Veterans Day, the United States President calls for all Americans to recognize our veterans and show support through commemorative expressions and programs. Everyone, especially Federal, State and local officials, are encouraged to display the United States flag and take part in patriotic programs in our respective communities.
November is Veterans Month
Aside from Veterans Day, the Department of Veterans Affairs has chosen the entire month of November as the National Veterans and Military Families Month. This month-long commemoration seeks to extend the tradition of observance and appreciation to include Military families.
The whole month is full of activities centered on this theme. These include Veterans Awareness and Recognition events (Nov. 2), pro bono legal assistance for Veterans (Nov. 13 to 17), the Walk of Honor Re-Dedication Ceremony (Nov. 18) and Homeless Veteran Initiations (Nov. 27) among many other programs and activities.
